Dear Class of 2022,

It is nice to see your faces again at the completion of the Senior School Certificate examinations. I am very much aware of our Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS3) students also celebrating the successful completion of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). You have all done well by embracing education to be outstanding in life.

I am honoured to be here in a time like this to be part of this unique moment of yours. The journey of a thousand mile begins with a step. I am also glad that your parents, guardians, School Governing Board representatives and the representatives of Oyo State Post Primary Schools Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) in person of our Tutor General; Mr Babatunde Onifade and his team are in attendance. It is also a great delight that our L.I.E. Ibadan South East Local Government; Mrs Faosat Adeyemo representing the honourable Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology; Barr Rahman Abiodun Abdul-Raheem is also in attendance to grace the occasion. God bless Seminary St. Anne’s School Old Girls Association (SSASOGA) for great impact the body is collectively doing to positively affect the entirety of St. Anne’s School Girls. May God’s perpetual light continually shine upon them, amen.

I believe at this juncture, you are all ready for the next chapter of your life. Like other secondary school graduates, you will enjoy scale of freedom in the next level of your life sojourn. You will definitely be faced with life decisions to make: academically, spiritually and in your career.  You, at one point or the other faced some challenges while pursuing your academics but I believe there are many opportunities opened to you for attending this great School; the citadel of learning, and I believe that every knowledge and experiences you have garnered would be utilised more as you move to another phase of your life journey.

You are definitely among the lucky ones for attending St. Anne’s School; that fact comes with different responsibilities: caring for others as you have enjoyed care from others, even from different places you never envisaged: Government, Non Governmental Organisations, the Church, private individuals and so on. The responsibility to put efforts in affecting your world is also on you – these are the responsibilities of global citizens with world view.

Anywhere you go in your sojourn in life, never lose your identity. God has reasons for creating you and for being identified with your country and your state of origin. Even in this challenging time, I give kudos to you for aspiring for higher education – remembering that education is a great leveler. You are definitely doing well for choosing the right path of life to be academically sound.  

It is great for being here and for staying till this very present moment of graduating after your full academic pursuit in the School. I wish you a brilliant future and outstanding career in the near future. I believe you will have a better world, the world of your own making. Remember the motto of your Alma – mater, let it be your guiding principle always. Do not neglect the fact that it is necessary for you to discover yourself and your life purpose. Most great personalities; men and women discovered themselves at a very tender age.

You must have goals and dreams that you want to achieve. Allow your passion to drive you; that is where your life fulfillment lies. You need to commit yourself to the understanding and relationship with your Maker. Without God, no one can achieve worthwhile things in life and ministry. Do not neglect God in the pursuit of your life purpose.

At this juncture, I like to appreciate the entire staff; teaching and non- teaching who has impacted our Girls in different ways to sharpen and get them prepared for their future. God bless you all. I also appreciate the commitment and untiring efforts of the Committee saddlied with the responsibility to organise the befitting valedictory programme which is today been witnessed by great leaders like Professor Daud Kehinde Sangodoyin; the Honourable Commissioner for Public Works and Transport, Oyo State and our distinguished Guest Speaker of the occasion; a lawyer of great repute; Mrs Folake Ajayi, the School Chaplain, Pastor Aderinoye and other distinguished personalities too numerous to mention but well appreciated.

I like to encourage other students still under our tutelage and also looking forward for an occasion as this to be diligent and be committed to hard work to be celebrated like this in the nearest future. For those who have also written their promotion examinations and are promoted to the next level based on their performance, I wish you more success in all your undertakings.  Congratulations, God bless you.
